EN ISO 5814 Water Quality, Dissolved Oxygen Determination, Electrochemical Probe Method

The measurement can be made as oxygen concentration in milligrams per liter, percent saturation (% dissolved oxygen), or both. The method measures the oxygen in the water, which corresponds to 1% to 100% saturation. However, most instruments allow measurement of values ​​higher than 100%, ie supersaturation.

The method measures oxygen in water with a saturation greater than 100% when special arrangements are made to prevent oxygen escaping during sample handling and measurement.

The method is suitable for measurements made in the laboratory as well as for measurements made in the field and for continuous monitoring of dissolved oxygen. It is the preferred method for multicolored and turbid waters, and is also the preferred method for the analysis of waters that are not suitable for the Winkler titration method due to iron and iodine-binding substances that may interfere with the iodometric method specified in ISO 5813.

It is suitable for drinking water, natural water, waste water and salt water. Correction of salinity is essential if used for saline waters such as marine or estuarine waters.
