Dynamic Tests

Acceleration Test

The acceleration test provides engineers with data on material and equipment behavior when the test items are subjected to acceleration forces (typically measured in g forces) that are applied slowly and held constant for a long time. The acceleration test specifically prevents creating shock, vibration, or dynamic (resonant) responses in test items.

Harmful effects from acceleration loads may include:

  • Structural deviation preventing the operation of the equipment.
  • Leaks from stressful seals.
  • Connector or stuck actuators.
  • Damaged or broken mounting hardware.
  • Pump cavitation.
  • Damage to printed circuit boards.
  • Cannot work relays or contactors.
  • Clogged pressure or flow regulator operation.
  • Irregular sensor function.

Typical test applications include aviation-related equipment such as aircraft landing gear, hydraulics, structural materials, control systems, passenger seats, tools, avionics and even toilets. Other test applications are used to verify the materials and equipment used in defense systems.

Top Talents

We offer the most complete acceleration testing facilities in the industry with G-charts and centrifuges ranging from a few grams to 1 lb (0,3 kg) in diameters and weight capacities from 62 ft (16 m) to 7,000 ft (3,175 m). For example, we can apply a 250g (115 m / s750) acceleration force to a 7.350 lb (2 kg) test item. Most of our centrifuges are equipped with adjustable booms to change test conditions and / or enclosures to reduce wind load.

Slip Rings and Swivels

Many acceleration tests require test items to be running while under load. Mandatory, this test requires a tool to connect the necessary controls and instrumentation. All our centrifuges have electric slip rings that can accommodate up to 100 ^ data and control channels (including several high power connections).

If necessary, we can also provide rotations to facilitate pneumatic and hydraulic operation of test items. A wide variety of possible slip rings and swivel configurations provide test engineers with generous flexibility to power, manage, monitor, and operate test items.

Test Types

The following are examples of the types of tests carried out by EUROLAB:

  • Acceleration Cycle - Tests that include a repeated change between two or more acceleration forces applied.
  • Centrifugal Acceleration - Tests that apply acceleration forces up to 50.000 g (490.000 m / s2).
  • Multi-Axis Acceleration Test - A test that includes any combination of linear and rotational acceleration forces applied in multiple directions.
  • Load Analysis - Satellites and space probes require testing to ensure they can withstand the expected acceleration forces and vibrations during their launch.
  • Print Application Test - Test involving the application of pressure loads over 31.000 kg.
  • MIL-STD-202— This standard creates a uniform method for testing and validating electronic and electrical components to determine how far the components can withstand the destructive effects of conditions and elements in military environments, electrical tests and physical tests. The methods of this test involve specifying appropriate conditions in the test lab that mimic real conditions on the field and obtaining results.
  • RTCA DO-160— “Environmental Conditions and Test Procedures for Airborne Equipment” is the most commonly used requirement that specifies environmental test criteria for avionic equipment.
