VITA is an anonymous, non-profit organization of vendors and users with a common market interest in real-time, modular embedded computing systems. VITA is accredited as a developer of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI). VITA provides members with the ability to develop and promote open technology standards.
The VITA 66 core specification defines common mounting interface requirements for various fiber optic interconnects in 3U and 6U VPX applications. This includes the definition of mounting provisions, permitted positions and connection spacing.
Additional "dot" specifications define requirements for specific optical module interfaces. One of the key goals of VITA 66 is to provide designers with a wide range of existing and field-used spindle/air termination technologies, enabling them to quickly and safely implement the best solution for specific applications.
