Fall Protection Equipment Tests

Anti-Fall, Dynamic Performance (ANSI Z359.15)

Developed by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI), the ANSI Z359.15 standard describes the dynamic performance characteristics and test methods of single anchor lifelines and fall arresters used in personal fall prevention and rescue systems. The full name of this standard, published in 2014, is as follows: Safety requirements for single anchor lifelines and fall arresters for personal fall prevention and rescue systems.

Anti-Fall, Dynamic Performance (ANSI Z359.15)

This standard describes the design criteria, performance requirements (proficiency test), marking and instructions, user reviews, maintenance and storage and decommissioning of the fall arresters. It is assumed that users weigh between 59-140 kg.

The ANSI Z359.15 standard governs the design, performance, and testing requirements for single-link equipment and fall arresters, often referred to as vertical work assemblies. Window cleaning equipment is not covered by this standard. Both rope and cable lifetimes, as well as fall arresters such as rope grabs, are addressed in the Z359.15 standard and all have specific test and performance requirements.

Rope strengths should have a minimum tensile strength of 2.267 kg. M for a force of 816 kgwhen exposed, it should not elongate more than 10 percent. The ropes should also have no knots or splices in the bundles of wires and should be sufficiently terminated by a splice, stitching or hammering.

Meanwhile, cable diameters should be a minimum of 80 cm, have a minimum tensile strength of 2.722 kg, and should be terminated with a spliced eye with one threaded connection or a return eye with at least two threaded connections. The fall arresters must automatically lock and require two consecutive, deliberate actions to open. Lanyards integrated in the fall arresters must be made of a synthetic material that can withstand a load of 1.633 kg.

Our organization also provides fall protection, dynamic performance (ANSI Z359.15) testing services to businesses within the framework of fall protection equipment testing services.
