This standard also covers electrically insulating gloves with additional integrated mechanical protection, referred to in this standard as "composite gloves".

In this standard, the requirements and test-related clauses have been revised to bring together the general requirements and tests and then separately identify those specific to insulating gloves for electrical protection normally worn under leather protective gloves. This regulation satisfies the basic requirement to provide the same quality of electrical insulation for all electrical insulating gloves.
The product covered by this standard may have an environmental impact at some or all stages of its life cycle. These effects can range from mild to significant, be short- or long-term, and occur at a global, regional or local level.
Gloves shall be free from harmful physical irregularities detectable by extensive testing and inspection on both the inner and outer surfaces.
Harmful physical irregularities should be defined as any feature that disrupts the smooth and even surface contour, such as pinholes, cracks, bubbles, cuts, conductive embedded foreign matter, wrinkles, pinch marks, voids (entrapped air), prominent ripples, and obvious mold marks.
