IEC EN 60076-11 Power Transformers - Part 11: Standard Test for Dry-Type Transformers

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 60076-11 test. IEC EN 60076-11 applies to dry-type power transformers (including auto-transformers) with peak voltage ratings for equipment up to (inclusive) 72,5 kV and at least one winding operating greater than 1,1 kV.

IEC EN 60076-11 Power Transformers - Part 11: Standard Test for Dry-Type Transformers

This standard does not apply to:

  • Gas-filled dry-type transformers where the gas is not air;
  • Single-phase transformers rated less than 5 kVA;
  • polyphase transformers rated less than 15 kVA;
  • Instrument transformers;
  • starter transformers;
  • Testing of transformers;
  • Traction transformers mounted on the wagon;
  • Flameproof and mining transformers;
  • Welding transformers;
  • Voltage regulating transformers;
  • Small power transformers where safety is of particular importance.

In the absence of IEC standards for the above-mentioned transformers or other special transformers, this document may be applied in whole or in part.

The main changes compared to the previous edition are as follows:

  • Extending the coverage up to 72,5kV;
  • Containment management in terms of performance;
  • Management of dielectric and thermal properties with altitude;
  • New climate classes to better adapt to customers' needs;
  • Establishing the relationship between location and environment classes;
  • Limitation at 1000kVA and more robust testing process for fire behavior classes;
  • Introduction of seismic class;
  • Recommendations for amorphous transformers.

Rated power refers to continuous loading. This is a reference value for guarantees and tests regarding load losses, temperature rises and short-circuit impedance.

The transformer shall have an assigned rated power for each winding which must be marked on the rating plate. Rated power refers to continuous loading. This is a reference value for guarantees and tests regarding load losses and temperature rises.
