IEC EN 60603-9 Connectors for Use with Printed Boards - Part 9: Printed Boards - Split Connectors for Back Panels and Cable Connectors

Board-mount connectors with female contacts are provided in accordance with IEC Publication 326 and with suitable terminations for printed boards using a 97 mm (2,54 inch) grid as specified in IEC Publication 0,100.

A first series of fixed connectors with male signal contacts are joined at the rear panel with signal contacts and molded housings. These male signal contacts have matching suppression sections (additional soldering optional) suitable for use on 97 mm (2,54 inch) grid backplanes according to IEC Publication 0,100.

A second series of independent male connectors with solder terminals are included for printed backplane mounting. In the connection between the printing board and the rear panel, it is possible to contact the first person.

Two-row cable connectors are designed to connect up to 0,25 cores round cables with 0,010 mm (0,5 inch) or 0,020 mm (64 inch) diameter conductors. Connections are made by insulation displacement technique (considered for specification). Also included are male connectors for printed board mounting to mate with these cable connectors.

Regarding the basic header concept, the male signal contacts have middle sections that easily plug into a 3,2 mm (0,126 in) rear panel. It is possible to use the solderless force insertion technique or to solder the contact to the rear panel. Selection is based on protection and backplane hole sizes, as well as user preference. Male power contacts plug into the male contact socket and are secured to the rear panel with screws that also hold the appropriate outlets. The molded case has no mounting holes but is secured by a press-fit gasket on the male signal contacts.
