Applies to pneumatic and electrical industrial process controllers using analog signals conforming to IEC EN 60546-2, IEC EN 60381-1 and IEC EN 60381-2. The provisions of this standard apply in principle to controllers with different but continuous signals. It provides technical guidance for inspection and routine testing of inspectors, for example as acceptance tests or after repair.
For a complete evaluation, IEC EN 60546-1 should be used. Quantitative criteria for acceptable performance are determined by agreement between the manufacturer and the user. If tests are to be carried out on the sample lot according to agreement between the manufacturer and the user, it is recommended to choose a sampling method such as that presented in IEC EN 60410. When sampling is used, the controllers to be tested can be selected by the user's controller.
The environmental conditions at the place of testing should be recorded. Recommended conditions can be found in IEC EN 60546-1. The method of evaluating the performance of the automatic/manual transmission setup should be chosen by agreement between the manufacturer and the user.
