IEC EN 60645-7 applies to instruments designed for the measurement of auditory evoked potentials from the inner ear, auditory nerve and brain stem, evoked by short-term acoustic or vibratory stimuli.
IEC EN 60645-7 defines the specifications that must be specified by the manufacturer, specifies the performance requirements for two types of instruments, scanning and diagnostics.
The purpose of IEC EN 60645-7 is to ensure that measurements made with different instruments conforming to this standard under comparable test conditions are consistent. IEC EN 60645-7 is not intended to restrict the development or incorporation of new features or deter innovative approaches. Application of electrical stimuli for special purposes is beyond the scope of this standard.
The maximum warm-up time should be determined by the manufacturer and should not exceed 10 minutes when the unit is stored at room temperature. The performance requirements of this standard must be met after the commenced warm-up period has elapsed and any setting adjustments have been made as specified by the manufacturer.
The manufacturer should specify the battery voltage limits to which the specification will be met and an appropriate indication should be provided to the operator that the battery voltage is within the correct performance limits.
