Applies to analyzers specified for permanent installation anywhere (indoor or outdoor) and such analyzers using a sample handling system or in situ measurement technique. It applies to the entire analyzer when supplied by a single manufacturer as an integrated unit consisting of all mechanical, electrical and electronic parts. It also applies to stand-alone sensor units and electronic units only when supplied separately or by different manufacturers.

Where only one value is given for a performance characteristic, such as intrinsic uncertainty, linearity uncertainty, or repeatability, over a measurement range, this is now defined as a maximum value rather than an average or "representative" value.

Where zero and 100% range calibration gases are used, there is now a defined requirement that the analyzer must be able to respond within standard performance specifications beyond the normal measuring range to allow any low or high response of the instrument to be recorded.
