IEC EN 60695-11-11 Fire Hazard Test - Part 11-11: Test for Determination of Characteristic Heat Flow for Ignition from a Non-Contact Flame Source

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 60695-11-11 test. IEC EN 60695-11-11 describes a test method for determining the characteristic heat flux (CHFI) for ignition from a contactless flame source for materials used in electrotechnical products, subassemblies or parts thereof. It provides a relationship between the ignition time and the incoming heat flow.

IEC EN 60695-11-11 Fire Hazard Test - Part 11-11: Test for Determination of Characteristic Heat Flow for Ignition from a Non-Contact Flame Source

A test specimen cut from an end product or subassembly can be tested with this test method. This part of IEC 60695 can be used in fire hazard assessment and fire safety engineering procedures described in IEC EN 60695-1-10, IEC EN 60695-1-11 and IEC EN 60695-1-12.

This international standard shall be used to measure and describe the properties of materials used for electrotechnical products and subassemblies in response to heat from a non-contact flame source or heat source under controlled laboratory conditions characterized by quantitative heat input (heat flux). The results of this test can be used as elements of a fire risk assessment that takes into account all factors relevant to the fire hazard assessment of a particular end use. A test specimen cut from an end product or subassembly can be tested with this test method.

This international standard may include hazardous materials, processes and equipment. It does not claim to address all the security issues associated with its use. It is the user's responsibility to establish appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory restrictions prior to use.

This is the first test method to determine the characteristic heat flux (CHFI) for ignition of materials used for electrotechnical products, sub-assemblies or parts from a non-contact flame source. CHFI characterizes ignition behavior in terms of incoming heat flow. This test method simulates the fire behavior of materials used for electrotechnical products where a flame source or heat source is close to but not in contact with these elements. An example is a candle flame burning next to an electrotechnical product.
