IEC EN 62564-1 Process Management for Avionics - Electronic Components Suitable for Aeronautics (AQEC) - Part 1: Integrated Circuits and Discrete Semiconductors

This part of the technical specification, IEC EN 62564, defines the minimum requirements for integrated circuits and semiconductors defined as “aerospace qualified electronic component (AQEC)”.

It applies to integrated circuits and semiconductors exhibiting the following characteristics:

• A minimum set of requirements or information provided by the part manufacturer that would allow a standard COTS component to be designated as AQEC by the manufacturer;
• As a minimum, each COTS component (designated as AQEC) shall be designed, manufactured, assembled and tested in accordance with the component manufacturer's requirements for standard databook components;
• The qualification and quality systems of COTS components to be designated as AQEC should include the manufacturer's standards, operating procedures and technical specifications. This information should be available when requested;
• Components produced before the manufacturer meets AQEC requirements but using the same processes are also considered AQEC compliant.

Parts conforming to AEC-Q100, grade 0 to grade 3 are considered AQEC. For applications where a temperature range of 0°C to +70°C is appropriate, grade 4 is also considered AQEC. Users must document that the class category used complies with the application according to the electronic components management plan (ECMP) of IEC EN 62239-1.
