IEC EN 62642-6 specifies requirements, performance criteria and test procedures for power supplies (PS) to be used as part of Intrusion and Suspend Alarm Systems (I&HAS). The PS will be either an integral part of an I&HAS component or standalone. Control functions of the PS may be included as part of the PS device or provided by another I&HAS component, for example a control and indication equipment.
The requirements correspond to each of the four degrees of safety given in IEC EN 62642-1. Requirements are given for all four environmental classes covering indoor and outdoor applications.
This standard covers mandatory functions that must be provided in all PSs and optional functions that can be provided. Other I&HAS-related functionality not specified in this standard may be provided. Such functionality will not affect the requirements of any mandatory or optional functionality.
Where PS is hosted with one or more components of an I&HAS, the environmental requirement of the PS will be those of those components. Also, for type C PS, except for durability test, environmental test will be done with SD in component and this SD will be fully charged.
For run tests, the power supply shall not produce tampering, faults or other signals or messages when subjected to the specified range of environmental conditions and shall continue to provide its continuous rated output. For endurance tests, the power supply must continue to meet the requirements of this standard after being subjected to the specified range of environmental conditions.
