The saw blade, hereinafter simply referred to as a saw or tool, is designed to cut wood and similar materials, plastics and non-ferrous metals, except magnesium, with a diameter of between 105 mm and 315 mm.
This standard does not apply to table saws intended to cut other metals such as magnesium, steel and iron. This standard does not apply to table saws with automatic feeders.
Bench saws should be marked with the direction of rotation of the spindle indicated by a raised arrow, in a visible place on the tool near the saw blade, such as a saw blade guard, riving knife, or a table attachment.
One or both of the side barriers will stay on the table and automatically adjust according to the thickness of the advancing workpiece. For all depths of cut and bevel positions of the saw blade, at least one side barrier must remain in contact with the workpiece. There will also be provision for positioning side barriers without the aid of a tool, allowing unobstructed measurement to the side rails on either side of the saw blade from the front and back of the saw blade.
When the saw blade guard is not in contact with the workpiece, it should cover the top and sides of the saw blade and be in contact with the table top at any depth of cut and chamfer setting. When cutting a workpiece, the saw blade guard will automatically adjust to remain in contact with the workpiece.
