IEC EN 60086-2 Primary Batteries - Part 2: Standard Test Method for Physical and Electrical Properties

Over the years, this section has been modified to improve its content and may be revised when the time comes in the light of comments made by national committees and experts based on practical experience and changing technology.

This current revision is the result of a reformatting attempt as well as some content changes aimed at making this section more user-friendly, less obscure and fully compatible with other parts of IEC EN 60086 on a cross-reference basis.

Portable primary batteries shall be subjected to the tests required in the IEC EN 60086 series. The test remains valid until a design change or requirement revision is made. Retesting is required when:

• Battery specification varies by more than 0,1 g or 20% mass (whichever is greater) for cathode, anode, or electrolyte;
• A battery specification change that will cause any test to fail;
• Adding new tests or requirements; or
• There is a requirement change that will fail any of the tests.
