This standard specifies requirements for bendable pipes of metal or composite materials for the protection of conductors and cables in electrical installations. It does not cover the requirements for pipe fittings.
For testing at room temperature, the specimens are clamped vertically on the bending apparatus according to figure 102 and bent about 90° to the left and returned to the vertical position, then bent about 90° to the right and bent back. A rest period of 15 s is allowed between each of the four bends in each row.
This sequence of operations is performed four times, except that the specimen is not finally bent back to the vertical position. The sample is held in the bent position for 5 minutes. The sample is placed so that the flats are at an angle of 45° to the vertical with one end of the sample pointing up and the other end down.
After the bending apparatus is kept for 1 hours in a cold room at a temperature equal to ±2°C, the minimum application temperature declared for the pipe with the sample, the test is repeated in a cold room at low temperature. The length of the sample for this test can be reduced to fit the cold room.
