The purpose of this article is to adequately specify the physical requirements for an optical transmitter component with an EMwL, a modulator driver IC, a TEC, and dual coaxial RF input connectors. It will provide mechanical interchangeability of components conforming to this specification for both PCB and any panel assembly requirements.
All optical fibers defined in IEC EN 60793-2-50 are applicable. All optical connectors defined in the IEC EN 61754 series are applicable if a braid is to be terminated with an optical connector.
The transmitter component has male type coaxial connectors as terminals RF1 and RF2. The connectors can handle RF electrical signals and are compatible with the pin-center contact full latch SMPM connector defined in IEC EN 61169-60.
