ISO 16750-5 Standard Test for Environmental Conditions and Tests for Road Vehicles, Electrical and Electronic Equipment

ISO 16750-5 describes possible environmental stresses and specifies recommended tests and requirements for the particular mounting location on/in the road vehicle.

ISO 16750-5 defines chemical loads. It is not designed to evaluate whether an electrical/electronic system is suitable for operation in continuous contact with a substance such as a fuel pump that is permanently submerged in fuel.

Components and related parts that may come into contact with the specified chemicals shall be resistant to these substances. Components and related parts are to be tested with all substances likely to come into contact, except materials that can be demonstrated by documentary evidence to be immune to contaminants and do not need to be tested.

The purpose of the test is to determine whether the device under test (DUT) is unacceptably affected by temporary exposure to contaminants.

Unless otherwise specified, one DUT will be used per test agent. DUTs will be tested with all agents likely to come into contact, except materials that can be demonstrated to be pollutant immune by documentary evidence and do not need to be tested.
