The IEC/EN 60335-2-13 standard prepared and published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) specifies the use of electric frying machines, frying pans and cooking oil with a volume not exceeding 5 liters and the highest recommended amount of oil, designed for home and similar uses. It is related to the security of other devices in which it is used. These devices require a maximum voltage of 250 volts to operate.
Equipment not intended for normal household use, but intended for use in shops, light industry and farms is also considered a source of danger for humans and falls within the scope of this standard.
The IEC / EN 60335-2-13 standard deals with the dangers of electric oil fryers used in homes for human health. Therefore, the main purpose of this standard is to ensure the safety of persons, including children, who lack experience and knowledge, who have physical, sensory or mental abilities, or children who play with these devices.
The following equipment and appliances are not covered by this standard: commercial deep fat fryers, commercial multi-purpose pots and pans, and appliances intended for use in locations where a corrosive or explosive atmosphere such as dust, steam or gas is present.
The standard in question has been published in our country by the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE) with the following title: TS EN 60335-2-13 Safety rules - For electrical devices used in homes and similar places - Part 2-13: Special for deep-fat fryers, frying pans and similar devices rules.
