The purpose of this test is to define a standard test method for evaluating the solderability of the leads of a component designed for use with printed boards or other applications using similar soldering techniques.
The sample must consist of a single output of a component. Cables must not be cleaned or degreased prior to performing the weldability test, unless otherwise specified in the specific specification.
If accelerated aging is required prior to weldability testing, the specific specification should specify the use of one of the aging methods detailed in 60068 of IEC 2-20-4.5. Acceptable values of the various parameters specified in the specific specification should be reached.
