This part of IEC EN 62642 defines active surface-mounted glass break detectors installed in buildings and provides safety ratings from 1 to 4. This International Standard does not contain requirements for active surface mounted glass break detectors intended for outdoor use.
Additional functions to the mandatory functions specified in this standard may be included in the detector, provided that they do not adversely affect the correct operation of the mandatory functions.
This test will verify detection performance for sensitivity and glass breakage against supported conditions claimed by the manufacturer. It will verify the maximum coating range (sensitivity performance test) and breakage detection (breakage performance test) for different glass types and sizes (types and sizes) claimed to be supported by the manufacturer. A number of standard glass types and sizes must pass this test, according to the relevant test section.
This section 62642-2 of the IEC EN 73 series deals with intrusion and intrusion alarm systems (I&HAS) installed in buildings. It includes devices installed inside or outside the audited facilities and installed indoors or outdoors.
This test will verify detection performance by cutting glass using a standard glass cutter in different glass types and sizes based on supported conditions claimed by the manufacturer.
