EN 13602 Copper and Copper Alloys - Standard Test for Drawn Round Copper Wires for the Fabrication of Electrical Conductors

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 13602 testing. This European standard specifies the composition, property requirements, including electrical properties, and dimensional tolerances for round copper wire drawn from 0,04 mm to 5,0 mm (inclusive) for the manufacture of electrical conductors intended for the manufacture of bare and insulated cables.

EN 13602 Copper and Copper Alloys - Standard Test for Drawn Round Copper Wires for the Fabrication of Electrical Conductors

This standard covers plain or tinned, single or multi-line, annealed or hard drawn wire. Enamel coating wire (winding wire, magnet wire) does not contain contact wire for electronic application and electrical traction. Sampling procedures, test methods to verify compliance with the requirements of this standard and delivery conditions are also specified.

Due to the thermal or mechanical treatment involved in the cable making processes, the properties of the conductors in the final cable or cord differ from those of the original supplied wire. Requirements for conductors from cable or cord are given in the appropriate cable standards.

When preparing the test sample, care should be taken to avoid contamination or overheating. Carbide-tipped tools are recommended; If steel tools are used, they should be made of magnetic material to aid in the subsequent removal of foreign iron. If test specimens are in finely divided form (eg drilling, grinding), they should be carefully handled with a strong magnet to remove any iron particles that get inside during preparation.

If test pieces from both test specimens pass the appropriate tests, the represented inspection lot shall be deemed to comply with the specific requirements of this standard. If a test piece fails a test, the represented inspection lot should be considered non-compliant with this standard.
