All cables comply with the appropriate requirements given in IEC 60227-1 and each cable type complies with the specific requirements of this section.

Each conductor shall consist of a series of wires or groups of wires twisted together, each wire shall consist of one or more flat wires made of copper or copper alloy, helically wound into a rope of cotton, polyamide or similar material.

Insulation shall be provided with a groove on both sides between the conductors to facilitate separation of the cores. The insulation will be PVC/D type polyvinyl chloride, it will consist of two layers and will be applied by double extrusion around the conductor.

The sheath can form a padding by filling the spaces between the cores, but should not adhere to the cores. The assembly of the cores can be surrounded by a spacer that will not stick to the cores.
