EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of IEC 61238-1-1 standard. This standard applies to compression and mechanical connectors for power cables with rated voltages up to 1 kV ( U m = 1,2 kV).
For example, buried cables or cables installed in buildings, conductors compliant with IEC 2,5 with nominal cross-sectional areas between 2 mm1200 and 2 mm16 for copper and between 2 mm1200 and 2 mm60228 for aluminum; Maximum continuous conductor temperature not exceeding 90 °C. This standard does not apply to connectors for overhead line conductors or to sliding contact connectors.
The purpose of this standard is to define type testing methods and requirements applied to compression and mechanical connectors for power cables with copper or aluminum conductors. The reference method is to conduct tests on unused conductors.
Together with IEC 61238-1-2 and IEC 61238-1-3, this first edition repeals and supersedes IEC 61238-1:2003.
