IEC 61730-2 Photovoltaic (PV) Module Safety Qualification, Part 2: Standard Test for Testing Requirements

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of IEC 61730-2 standard. IEC 61730-2 provides the test sequence to verify the safety of PV modules whose construction has been evaluated by IEC 61730-1.

IEC 61730-2 Photovoltaic (PV) Module Safety Qualification, Part 2: Standard Test for Testing Requirements

The test sequence and pass criteria are designed to detect possible failures of internal and external components of PV modules that could result in fire, electric shock, or personal injury.

The standard defines basic safety testing requirements and additional testing as a function of PV module end-use applications. Test categories include general inspection, electric shock hazard, fire hazard, mechanical stress, and environmental stress.

This standard does not apply to modules with integrated AC inverters (AC modules). This standard is designed so that the test sequence can be coordinated with those in IEC 61215 or IEC 61646 so that a single sample set can be used to perform both the safety and performance evaluation of a photovoltaic module design.
