A combination of suitably selected, proportioned and processed materials whose characteristic component is the plastomer polyvinyl chloride or one of its copolymers. The same term also refers to compounds containing both polyvinyl chloride and certain polymers thereof.
It covers the tests that must be carried out before a type of cable covered by this standard is supplied on a general commercial basis to demonstrate satisfactory performance characteristics to meet the intended application. Cables must have a manufacturer's mark, such as an identifying thread or a repeating mark of the manufacturer's name or trademark. Cables to be used at a conductor temperature exceeding 70°C will also be marked with a code designation or maximum conductor temperature.
Identification of the cores of a cable should be done using colored insulation or another suitable method. Each core of a cable will have only one color, except for the core identified by the combination of green and yellow colors. The green and yellow colors should not be used for any multicore cable when they are not together.
