IEC EN 60352-5 Solderless Connections - Part 5: Push-in Connections - General Requirements and Test Methods

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 60352-5 testing. IEC EN 60352-5 applies to solderless suppression connections for use in electrical and electronic equipment and components. The suppression joint consists of a termination with a suitable suppression zone inserted into the hole of a board. In addition to test procedures to ensure electrically stable connections under specified environmental conditions, information on materials and data from industrial experience are included.

IEC EN 60352-5 Solderless Connections - Part 5: Push-in Connections - General Requirements and Test Methods

The purpose of this standard is to determine the conformity of press connections under the mechanical, electrical and atmospheric conditions specified by the manufacturer of the press connections and to provide a way to compare test results on tools used to make the connections. have different designs or production.

The word "manufacturer" is used throughout this standard for simplicity, as the manufacturer of the compression termination must provide the main part of the information required for qualification.

Connections should be handled carefully and skillfully in accordance with best practice. Tools should be used and inspected according to the instructions and dimensions provided by the manufacturer. Tools must be able to make uniform reliable connections. Tools should be designed so that they do not damage the suppression termination or the printed board when operated correctly.

The performance of a press-fit joint is dependent on the dimensions of the specially shaped press-fit zone and the materials and dimensions of the coated hole in the printed board together with the materials used for the press-fit termination.

For test purposes, test boards according to IEC EN 61188-5-1 and IEC EN 62326-4 or according to a specification given by the manufacturer should be used. Unless otherwise specified in the component specification or manufacturer's specification, four-layer printed circuit test cards will be used for testing.

The thickness of the test plate should be that for which the push-in connection is designed. When the press joint is designed for use with different plate thicknesses, the test plate chosen will be the thinnest nominal thickness for which the press joint is intended to be used.
