This standard details the safety requirements for air circulation luminaires used with a ventilated duct or ventilated space (plenum) for use with fluorescent tube lamps for power supply voltages not exceeding 1000 V.
The provisions of section zero of Luminaires, Part 1, general rules and general tests apply. The tests detailed in each relevant section of Section One shall be conducted in the order specified in this Section of Section Two.
If the luminaire is manufactured with spacers or similar devices to provide a certain minimum distance from a part of the building structure in order to eliminate the fire hazard, these devices shall be fixed in such a way that they cannot be removed without damaging the luminaire. or makes it impossible to install properly. This requirement does not apply to spacers that are only provided for structural reasons and have no safety impact.
The luminaire is connected to the mains using the cable supplied with the luminaire or according to the marking on the luminaire or, if not marked, as specified in the manufacturer's instruction sheet.
During normal service, the hottest part of the cable is likely to be in contact (along the inner path of the luminaire or on the outer surface of the luminaire). The cable is held lightly in contact with this portion and the temperature of the insulation at the point of contact is measured as described in Appendix F of Publication 60598-1.
In order to simulate the worst conditions that can occur in forced air flow systems, the air circulation system should be turned off during temperature measurements in systems that provide cooling air or exhaust air at room temperature, and open during measurements in systems.
