This standard is applicable to any wireless communication device capable of transmitting electromagnetic fields (EMF) intended for use in close proximity to the human body, with the radiated part, as described by the manufacturer.
When the device is held at distances of up to (inclusive) 200mm from a human body, i.e. when held in the hand or in front of the face, when mounted on the body, with other transmitting or non-transmitting devices or accessories (e.g. belt-clip, camera or Bluetooth attachment), or embedded in clothing. IEC 62209-1 procedures apply to transmitters used near the human ear.
EN 62209-2 applies to radio frequency exposure in the frequency range 30 MHz to 6 GHz, and can be used to measure simultaneous exposures from multiple radio sources used near the human body.
