IEC EN 60603-4 Connectors for Use with Printed Boards - Part 4: Split Connectors for Printed Boards with Spacing Contacts at 1,91 mm (0,075 inch) Centers

Free connectors have a relatively new method of connecting the connector to the printed circuit board. It is accomplished by a series of cantilever solder tabs evenly distributed on both sides of the board.

• Direct replacement of a socket connector with a two-piece master and daughter board connector paired set without requiring major design changes to the packaging system;
• Easy access to both sides of a board without having to use veneered holes;
• High density packaging with components on both sides of the board without the complication of stepped pins and termination pads.

The standard specifies requirements for circular, straight and flexible connectors for electronic equipment. Covers connectors with rated voltages up to 1.000 V and rated currents up to 32 A. The connectors can be used in a variety of applications, including industrial, communications and medical equipment. The standard is divided into several sections, with Chapter 4 covering the general requirements for circular connectors.
