This International standard has been prepared in accordance with the requirements of IEC 61477 when applicable.
The product covered by this standard may have an environmental impact at some or all stages of its life cycle. These effects can range from mild to significant, be short-term or long-term, and occur at a global, regional or local level.
Except for the declaration of disposal in the instructions for use, this standard does not contain requirements and test provisions for the manufacturers of the product or recommendations for environmental remediation to users of the product. However, we invite all parties involved in its design, manufacture, packaging, distribution, use, maintenance, repair, reuse, recovery and disposal to consider environmental considerations.
Electric insulation blanket shall be designed and manufactured in such a way as to contribute to the safety of users, provided that it is used by qualified persons in accordance with safe working methods and operating instructions.
Electrical insulation blankets will be produced from elastomer or plastic materials and in a seamless process. Where rings are provided in electrical insulating blankets, they will not be conductive. Where other types of fastening systems are provided for electrically insulated covers (for example, velcro fastening), they will also not be conductive.
Electrical insulation blankets will support the mechanical, climatic and environmental stresses that occur under normal operating conditions. Electrical insulation blankets of one or more special categories will support the corresponding additional voltages.
Electrical insulating blankets shall be packed in containers or packages of sufficient strength to properly protect the electrical insulating blankets from damage during normal storage and transportation upon delivery and prior to first use.
