EN 61340-5-1 Electrostatic - Part 5-1: Protection of Electronic Devices from Electrostatic Events - General Requirements

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance services within the scope of EN 61340-5-1 standard. EN 61340-5-1 is available as EN 61340-5-1 RLV which includes the International standard and the Redline version and shows all the changes in technical content compared to the previous version.

EN 61340-5-1 applies to the following activities: Manufacture, processing, assembly, installation, packaging, labeling, service, testing, inspection, transportation or other use of electrical or electronic parts, assemblies and equipment with equal or higher withstand voltages. 100 V HBM, 200 V CDM and 35 V for insulated conductors.

ESDS with lower withstand voltages may require additional control elements or set limits. Processes designed to handle items with a lower ESD withstand voltage may still claim compliance with this standard.

This standard provides the requirements for an ESD control program. EN 61340-5-2 provides guidance on the application of this standard. This standard does not apply to electrically initiated explosive devices, flammable liquids, gases and dusts.

The purpose of this standard is to provide administrative and technical requirements for the establishment, implementation and maintenance of an ESD control program (hereinafter referred to as "program").
