Insulated cables covered by this part of EN IS0 6722 shall conform to the specified values. For other requirements, different conductor structures can be used, provided they meet the nominal cross-sectional area and conductor resistance requirement. For special applications for classes A, B and C and for certain materials for class C (see IS0 6722-2 for classes), the insulation thickness and maximum outer cable diameter can be increased as agreed with the user.
EN ISO 6722 deals with cables with copper conductors within the scope of EN ISO 6722-1 and cables with aluminum conductors covered in this part of EN ISO 6722 and single core cables. In general, the performance of cables with aluminum conductors is not expected to be the same.
An oven with natural or compressed air exchange should be used. The air must enter the furnace to flow over the surface of the test pieces and exit near the top of the furnace. The furnace shall not have less than 8 and more than 20 full air changes per hour at the specified aging temperature.
