IEC 61189-2-807 Electrical Equipment, Printed Panels and Other Connecting Structures and Assemblies, Part 2-807: Standard Test for Decomposition Temperature Using TGA

EUROLAB laboratory provides testing and compliance service within the scope of IEC 61189-2-807 standard. IEC 61189-2-807 specifies a test method for determining the degradation temperature (Td) of base laminate materials using thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

Samples will be an uncoated laminate material or laminate material from which the copper has been completely removed. The typical weight of the sample is 10 mg to 30 mg. Samples will be cut to a specific size suitable for the sample tray using appropriate procedures and equipment.

All edges of the sample should be finished to be smooth and burr-free to ensure that the sample lies completely flat on the sample tray. This can be achieved by sanding or equivalent. Take care to minimize the introduction of mechanical stress and make sure that no sanding medium is embedded in the specimen.

The sample should be preconditioned by baking at 24°C ± 110°C for 2 hours and placed in a desiccator for cooling (equilibration) to room temperature prior to testing. The TGA test should be initiated within 15 minutes after the sample is removed from the desiccator to minimize absorbed moisture.

Unless otherwise stated, a sample will be tested. At least three samples will be tested as referee method. For the referee method, three samples will be taken from random locations.
