IEC EN 60332-2-2 Tests on Electrical and Fiber Optic Cables under Fire Conditions - Part 2-2: Vertical Flame Propagation Testing for a Single Small Insulated Wire or Cable

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 60332-2-2 test. IEC 60332-2-2 specifies the procedure for testing resistance to vertical flame propagation for a single small vertical electrically insulated conductor or cable or optical cable under fire conditions.

IEC EN 60332-2-2 Tests on Electrical and Fiber Optic Cables under Fire Conditions - Part 2-2: Vertical Flame Propagation Testing for a Single Small Insulated Wire or Cable

The apparatus is given in IEC EN 60332-2-1. This standard gives the procedure for testing small fiber optic cables or a small insulated conductor or cable where the method specified in IEC EN 60332-1-2 is not suitable, because some small fiber optic cables may break or small conductors, IEC EN 60332- It may melt during the application of 1-2.

The recommended application range is for testing small single insulated conductors or cables with a cross section of less than 0,5 mm². Special installation precautions must also be taken wherever the risk of spread is high, for example in long vertical cable bundles, as the use of insulated conductors or cables that retard flame propagation and comply with the recommended requirements of this standard are not alone sufficient to prevent the spread of fire under all installation conditions.

Because the cable sample complies with the performance requirements recommended in this standard, it cannot be assumed that a cable bundle will behave similarly. Special installation precautions must also be taken with long vertical cable bundles. Because the cable sample complies with the performance requirements recommended in this standard, it cannot be assumed that a cable bundle will behave similarly.

The specimen should be firmly fixed to the two horizontal supports with wires of the appropriate size so that the distance between the bottom of the upper support and the top of the lower support is (550 ± 5) mm. In addition, the sample should be placed with the lower end approximately 50 mm from the base of the screen.

If the original surface of the sample is not damaged after wiping, attention should be paid to drying; Softened or deformed parts of non-metallic materials should also be disregarded. The distance between the lower edge of the upper support and the upper and lower limits of the carbon zone is measured to the nearest millimetre.
