IEC EN 60667-1 gives definitions and general requirements for vulcanized fiber sheets for electrical purposes. Materials made by combining several thicknesses of vulcanized fibers with an adhesive are not within the scope of this document.
Materials complying with this standard meet specified performance levels. However, the selection of a material by a user for a particular application is based on the actual requirements required for adequate performance in that application and not solely on that specification.
Types A, B and C have been replaced by general and fish paper types, and a symbol for each type has been added in the classification; adding white, blue, brown and adding a symbol for each color; Subtraction of the thickness, length, mass and size of rolls of 15,0 mm from the general requirements; adding the manufacturer's name, trademark (if any), nominal thickness, production date and batch number to the supply conditions. In the classification, B and C were replaced by general and fish paper types, and a symbol was added for each type.
Plug: This type is characterized by greater hardness and strength associated with higher density. Compared to other types, it has less tendency to separate layers in difficult processing operations and is processed more smoothly. Sheets are available in a limited range of thicknesses from 0,8 mm to 12 mm.
Type B: This type is considered general purpose type. It has good physical and electrical properties and can be satisfactorily produced by punching.
Type C: It is mainly designed for uses requiring difficult forming or bending operations. It is available only in sheets and rolls (often referred to as "skin"), with thicknesses ranging from 0,1 mm to 2,5 mm.
