IEC EN 62040-3 specifies the performance and test requirements for mobile, stationary and stationary electronic uninterruptible power systems (UPS) supplied with an AC voltage not exceeding 1000 V, providing an AC output voltage not exceeding 1000 V.
It must contain an energy storage device not exceeding 1500 V DC and must have a primary function to ensure the continuity of the load power.
This standard specifies the performance and testing requirements for a complete UPS and, where applicable, individual UPS functional units. It also includes UPS performance and testing requirements for UPS switches that interact with UPS functional units to maintain load power continuity.
This standard does not cover:
The primary function of the UPS covered by this standard is to maintain the continuity of an AC power supply. The UPS may also serve to improve the quality of the power supply by keeping it within specified specifications. The UPS has been developed in a wide power range from less than a hundred watts to several megawatts to meet the requirements for availability and quality of power for various loads.
