IEC EN 60684-3-216 provides the requirements for four types of heat shrinkable, flame retardant, limited fire hazard sleeve with a thermal endurance rating of 105°C as shown below.
The purpose of this standard is to define the requirements and specifications for heat-shrinkable, flame-retardant, limited fire hazard sleeves. This type of sleeve is designed for applications where not only electrical insulation but also fire safety and reduced fire hazard are critical. This standard ensures that the sleeve meets the necessary criteria for electrical insulation, mechanical protection, flame retardancy and low emissions of smoke and toxicity in the event of fire.
These sleevings are normally supplied in the following colours: black, red, green, blue, white, yellow and green/yellow. Sizes or colors other than those listed in this standard are available as special items. Materials conforming to this standard meet specified performance levels. However, the selection of a material by a user for a particular application will be based on the actual requirements necessary for adequate performance in that application and not solely on this standard.
