IEC EN 61439-3 Low Voltage Switchgear and Controllers - Part 3: Test of Distribution Boards Intended to be Operated by Ordinary Persons

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 61439-3 testing. IEC EN 61439-3 defines special requirements for distribution boards intended to be operated by ordinary persons (DBO).

IEC EN 61439-3 Low Voltage Switchgear and Controllers - Part 3: Test of Distribution Boards Intended to be Operated by Ordinary Persons

DBOs have the following criteria:

  • For example, in domestic (domestic) applications it is designed to be operated by ordinary people (for example, switching operations and replacing fuses);
  • Outgoing circuits contain protective devices intended for operation by ordinary persons, for example, complying with IEC 60898-1, IEC 61008, IEC 61009, IEC 62423 and IEC 60269-3;
  • The rated voltage to earth does not exceed 300 V ac;
  • The rated current (Inc) of the outgoing circuits does not exceed 125 A, and the rated current (InA) of the DBO does not exceed 250 A;
  • It is designed for the distribution of electrical energy;
  • closed, fixed;
  • For indoor or outdoor use.

DBOs may also include control or signaling devices related to the distribution of electrical energy. This standard applies to all DBOs, whether designed, manufactured and verified as a one-off, or fully standardized and produced in quantity.

This standard includes circuit breakers, fused switches, electronic devices, etc., which will comply with the relevant product standards. It does not apply to individual devices and self-contained components, such as

This goal can be achieved through one of two typical processes; the user will either choose a catalog product that meets the required user needs with its features or make a special agreement with the manufacturer.

The rated impulse withstand voltage must be equal to or higher than the values specified for transient overvoltages occurring in electrical systems to which the circuit is designed to be connected.
