The IEC 60129 standard applies to alternating current disconnectors and earthing switches designed for indoor and outdoor installation for voltages above 1000 V and service frequencies up to (inclusive) 60 Hz. This standard also applies to operating devices and auxiliary equipment.
Additional requirements for disconnectors and earthing switches in enclosed switchgear and controlgear are given in IEC 60298, IEC 60466 and IEC 60517. Switch-disconnectors for which the fuse is an integral part are not covered by this standard.
Unless otherwise stated, this standard should be read in conjunction with the second edition published in IEC 60694, 1996, to which it refers and is applicable. To simplify the indication of the corresponding requirements, the same numbering of substances and sub-clauses as in IEC 60694 is used.
This document also applies to switching devices with disconnecting and/or grounding functions apart from other functions such as high speed earthing switch, circuit breaker and load disconnector.
