IEC 60502-1 Cables - Extruded Insulated Power Cables with Rated Voltages Between 1 KV and 30 KV - Cables with Rated Voltages of 1 KV and 3 KV

IEC 60502-1 specifies the construction, dimensions and test requirements of extruded solid insulated power cables for AC nominal voltages of 1 kV (Um = 1,2 kV) and 3 kV (Um = 3,6 kV) for fixed installations.

Cables with an AC rated voltage of 1 kV (Um = 1,2 kV) designed and tested according to this standard can also be used in DC distribution systems with a rated voltage ≤ 750 V DC, if declared by the manufacturer.

This standard covers cables that exhibit low flame spread, low smoke emission and halogen-free gas emission characteristics when exposed to fire. Cables for special installation and service conditions are not included, for example cables for overhead networks, mining industry, nuclear power plants, submarine use or ship application.

The dimensional, physical and electrical requirements of the metallic screen will be determined by national regulations or standards.

In multi-core cables, concentric conductor will be applied on the inner coating when necessary. For single core cables, it will be applied either directly on the insulation or on a suitable inner coating.
