The IEC 60939-2 standard published by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) applies to passive filter units for electromagnetic interference suppression falling within the scope of its general specification. The scope of this part specification is limited to passive filter units for which safety testing is appropriate.
This means that filters specified by this section specification will be connected to mains supplies when compliance with mandatory testing is required, or used in other circuit locations where the equipment specification specifies that some or all of these safety tests have been performed.
This section specification applies to passive filter units that are to be connected to an ac mains or other source with a rated voltage not exceeding 1 V ac and a rated frequency not exceeding 000 Hz or 400 V dc.
