EN 50561-1 Power Line Communication Apparatus Used in Low Voltage Installations - Radio Distortion Properties - Limits and Measurement Methods - Part 1: Apparatus for Domestic Use

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of EN 50561-1 test. This part of EN 50561 specifies the limits and methods for measuring radio disturbance characteristics for domestic communication devices using a low-voltage power installation as the transmission medium. This part of EN 50561 applies to equipment communicating over this medium in the frequency range 1.606 5 MHz to 30 MHz.

Similar equipment communicating outside this frequency range is under review and will be covered by another European Standard. Procedures are given for the measurement of signals produced by the equipment and limits are specified for the frequency range 9 kHz to 400 GHz. There is no need for measurement at frequencies where no limit is specified.

If several neighboring radio broadcast services are identified, or if a digital (DRM) service occupies more than a single conventional channel, the width of the excluded frequency range should be increased and scaled to integer multiples of 5 kHz.

The excluded frequency band will be permanently excluded for as long as the 'applicable' radio broadcast service is available. After the termination of the detection of a "valid" radio broadcast service, the excluded frequency band will be excluded for at least another 3 minutes.

Tests that require the PLC modem function to be active should be performed with PLC utilization above 10% and keeping the transmission signal at maximum level for a minimum of 250 ms. For example, the transmission of a large data file can be used to use the port. Where this is not possible, an appropriate configuration should be used which ensures that the PLC transmission is then active long enough to allow repeatable measurements.
