The purpose of this test is to define a standardized test method for measuring the electrical resistance of a double-jointed contact or a contact paired with a measuring indicator. The contact resistance should normally be derived from the voltage drop measured between the fields provided for connecting the wires to the contacts, at the points defined in the detailed specification.
During measurements, precautions should be taken to ensure that abnormal pressure is not applied to the tested contacts and that the test leads do not move in any way. When the measuring points defined in the detail specification are not directly accessible, the resistance of the cable or wire must be deducted from the measured value. The corrected value should be noted.
