IEC 61000-4-17 defines test methods for surge immunity on the DC input power port of electrical or electronic equipment. Applies to low voltage DC power ports of equipment supplied by external rectifier systems or batteries being charged.
This standard defines:
This standard does not specify tests to be applied to particular apparatus or systems. Its main purpose is to provide a general baseline reference to IEC product committees. These product committees (or equipment users or manufacturers) remain responsible for the selection of appropriate tests and the level of severity to be applied to their equipment.
Special testing procedures are used to test certain categories of electrical or electronic equipment. e.g; equipment connected to the DC supply network of telephone switching centers; relevant product committees should evaluate the suitability and applicability of the test procedure outlined in this core standard.
