IEC EN 60255-1 Measuring Relays and Protection Equipment - Part 1: Standard Test Method for General Requirements

EUROLAB, with its state-of-the-art accredited laboratories and expert team, provides precise and fast testing services within the scope of IEC EN 60255-1 test. IEC EN 60255-1 specifies the common rules and requirements applicable to metering relays and protection equipment, including any combination of devices, to create schemes for power system protection, such as control, monitoring and process interface equipment, to achieve uniformity of requirements and tests. It covers all measuring relays and protection equipment used for protection in the power system environment.

IEC EN 60255-1 Measuring Relays and Protection Equipment - Part 1: Standard Test Method for General Requirements

All measuring relays and protection equipment used for protection in the power system environment are within the scope of this standard. Other standards in this series may define their own requirements which will take precedence in such cases. For special applications (marine, aerospace, explosive atmospheres, computers, etc.), the general requirements under this standard may need to be extended with additional specific requirements. The requirements apply only to relays in new condition. Unless otherwise stated, all tests in this standard are type tests.

The relay measurement accuracy regarding the operating time defined in the IEC EN 60255-100 series should be expressed as the maximum error. The maximum error must be verified from at least 5 consecutive measurements.

Manufacturer, temperature, amount of auxiliary energizing, harmonics, frequency, etc. It must declare changes caused by influencing magnitudes or factors such as The IEC EN 60255-100 series defines which influence sizes are relevant.

The type of communication protocols and communication medium used to communicate with the equipment should be specified by the manufacturer. Preferred protocols are those that have an IEC standard. Compliance testing should be done to ensure they conform to the relevant standard or specification.

The relay trips at the rated auxiliary energizing voltage without any energizing magnitude input. The peak value of the input current during power-up will be recorded from the moment of switching until the input current reaches close to 10% of the steady-state current. The maximum value of 5 consecutive tests will be used for the load declaration.
