IEC EN 60255-6 Electrical Relays - Part 6: Standard Test Method for Measuring Relays and Protection Equipment

This standard specifies the general performance requirements of all electrical measuring relays and protection equipment used in electrotechnical fields within the scope of IEC. It supersedes IEC EN 60255-6 and its first supplement 60255-6 A.

It excludes relays used in the following electrotechnical fields:

• Telephone;
• Telegram;
• Signaling and blocking in rail systems;
• Devices covered by IEC Publications 158.292 and 337.

For special applications (marine, aerospace, explosive atmospheres, computers, etc.), it can be extended by special requirements.

Relays designed to meet the requirements prepared by other international standardization organizations (telecommunications, railways, etc.) will comply with this standard when used in electrotechnical fields covered by IEC, except those excluded above.

The purpose of this standard is to specify:

• Definitions of terms used;
• Nominal values ​​related to energizing and influencing quantities;
• Requirements for accuracy, thermal and mechanical performance;
• Test methods;
• Signs and data.

The limits of the operating range for each auxiliary energizing amount shall be as specified in the lower level documentation. The nominal values ​​of the non-preferred ranges should be distinguished from the values ​​of the limits of the operating range by suitable means, for example by underlining or using a special type of face.
