The tests conforming to this standard are type tests. Pipe detection devices that have the same classification and differ only in color are considered the same product type and only one color must be tested. Where a pipe fixing device accommodates a range of pipe sizes, the pipe fixing device should be tested using the smallest and largest pipe size.
Samples of non-metallic and composite pipe fixing devices should be conditioned for at least 23 hours at (2 ± 40)°C and relative humidity between 60% and 240%. All tests should be performed immediately after general conditioning. Unless otherwise stated, samples for each test shall be in clean and new condition. Particular attention should be paid to the manufacturer's instructions, especially where force is required in the assembly of the joint.
Fixing means shall be designed to withstand the mechanical stresses that occur during installation and normal use. If there are screws used in the mounting of the pipe fastener, it will not damage the piping system components when properly installed.
Pipe detection devices, which can be used with all kinds of pipes and whose outer diameters comply with IEC EN 60423, will be tested using a steel mandrel whose outer diameter is suitable for the minimum diameter of the relevant dimension.
After testing, the mandrel or groove should remain inside the channel fixing device with no signs of fragmentation and no cracks visible with normal or corrected vision without magnification.
