The LC-PC duplex connector is a single-position plug connector set of plug/adapter/plug configuration, characterized by cylindrical, spring-loaded additional ferrules and a ratchet push-pull connection mechanism with a nominal diameter of 1,25 mm. The optical alignment mechanism of the connectors is in a flexible sleeve style.
This standard specifies the initial, early-of-life dimensional, optical, mechanical and environmental performance requirements that a terminated and assembled multimode flexible alignment sleeve LC-PC duplex connector set (plug/adapter/plug) must meet for operation. It should be categorized as an International Standard product.
While all products conforming to the requirements of this standard will match each other, the resulting random attenuation level will be at a common performance level, ie the attenuation of a matched pair will be limited to the worst of the two connectors. This will be true regardless of the product's manufacturing sources.
The plug has a cylindrical zirconia ceramic ring and a ratchet push-pull mechanism. It has a single male switch used to limit and can be used to direct relative rotation between mating connectors.
Alternative materials with material properties directly compatible with zirconia can be used for the ferrule, but end face and performance requirements must be met in all circumstances.
Outline dimensions and other dimensions required to ensure composability or affect performance are specified. All other dimensions are left to the discretion of the manufacturer. Where the corresponding face limit dimensions are not compatible with an IEC interface standard, this is clearly stated.
