IEC 60269-1 Test for Low Voltage Fuses

This standard is applicable to fuses intended to protect power-frequency ac circuits with rated voltages not exceeding 6 1 V, containing closed current-limiting fuse-links with rated breaking capacities not less than 000 kA.

It determines the characteristics of fuses or fuse parts (fuse base, fuse-carrier, fuse link) in such a way that they can be replaced by other fuses of the same dimensions or fuse parts with the same characteristics.

Any fuse constructed according to the IEC 60269 standard and carrying the same application category (e.g. gG or aM) will have similar electrical characteristics, time-current characteristics and power consumption, even if the fuses are made in standardized packages. Fuses of the same application category may be used interchangeably, provided that the voltage rating of the circuit does not exceed the fuse rating according to previous national standards.
